About The Thalians

In 1955, a common interest developed among show business people seeking a way to contribute to society. That interest was in children's mental health problems. These young people named themselves after the Greek music of comedy, Thalia.

By 1959 their dreams and hard work flourished. With the construction of a single story building on the grounds of Mt. Sinai Hospital, "The Thalians Guidance Clinic for Emotionally Disturbed Children" was born.

Many of the early fund-raisers were initiated by Debbie Reynolds, Ruta lee and Bob Peterson, and are still conducted today. The Thalians’ membership of volunteers is approximately 125. The selfless endeavor of these volunteers have made The Thalians Mental Health Center one of the most respected mental health clinics in todays world.

Nearly half a million dollars is raised each year for the Thalians Mental Health Center. The efforts of those, who join together in dedication and service, make it possible for persons of all ages to receive quality mental health services. These services might otherwise be unattainable.

Great appreciation exists for The Thalians’ continuing commitment to service. Visit The official Thalian website at, www.thethalians.com to become informed about their work and contributions to the mental health community. At this site, you will also learn about the Thalians’ fund raising events.
